About me

I’m Eve and I’m 28 years old, London born and bred. I love food – cooking and consuming it, and occasionally sharing with friends too.

Pre-university, I could barely boil an egg, let alone rustle up a roast or bake a cake. Living away from home, I slowly learned how to chop, fry, bake and boil, and by the time I reached my year abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I could at least manage the basics. My time in Argentina served to further develop my interest in food, as well as a strong taste for red meat and Malbec wine. I’m an offal enthusiast who believes that meat-eaters should eat the entire animal; trotters, tail and all. In Argentina I found a spiritual home…barbecued intestines and sweetbreads? Yes, please!

Back in Leeds for my last year of university, I began to bake as a tactic to avoid revision and consequently discovered the great pleasure of serving up a homemade cake for tea with friends. After graduation I spent a year working for the British Council in Barranquilla, Colombia, where I ate an immense amount of whole fried fish and tripe stew – proper, hearty, Colombian grub.  I fell more and more in love with Latin America but longed for the variety of cuisine so readily available in London.

Swapping Colombian empanadas for English pasties, I returned home to my beloved London town and now revel daily in the huge mix of cultures and cuisines my city has to offer. I use this blog to share recipes, restaurants and food I’ve eaten from various jaunts around the world. From pastrami sandwiches in New York to cheese filled worms in Colombian’s Amazon, it’s all been part of the journey of BidmeadBites.

I hope you enjoy ready about my adventures with food as much as I enjoy sharing them with you all.

Thank you for visiting!

Welcome!
